How to Take Your Writing Career to the Next Level
Are you stuck as a beginner writer?
I have been stuck at the "beginner writer" level for quite some time. Years, in fact. My income stays around the same level, which isn't much. I do the same types of work that I did, even though I don't like it.
Needless to say, I am frustrated.
Are you in the same boat as I am? In this hub, I offer you my journey. How am I going to fix this situation so that I can boost my income for good?
Luckily, I have a plan.

Next Level Writing Career: Step One - Get Experience Writing Content
I have decided moving forward that I will always create both Hubs on hubpages and Lenses on Squidoo, simply because I like to. Writing about things I like brings me great enjoyment, and these sites offer me a nice outlet.
This phase of my "next level writing career project" is something I call "My Last Hoorah". This is where I write a ton of content articles (mainly for others, but without deadlines) and then walk away from it forever, unless it's writing PLR packs in which case I will benefit forever from these...
Constant Content and Associated Content
I vow to finally make a sale on this site. For the past few months, I have been submitting articles here and getting the rejected. It's driving me nuts. Assuming a 1% success rate, I figure I will need to write 100 articles. However, I will write and submit the articles in five article increments until I get a sale. That way I can stop if my odds are better. One sale. That's all I want!
Update: I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong. It's getting frustrating and I even had my account blocked (they've reinstated it because I told them I was willing to work harder at it). I have so much experience writing content, it's perplexing that I have a hard time doing anything right here. Maybe you have better luck?
Associated Content
If you want to follow along, you can also use Associated Content (Yahoo Contributor Network). I already have 100 articles or so published on that site and figure my time with them is done. Well it might be done. I will keep you posted.
Update: I have applied to become part of their content network. I was part of the pilot program but my first attempt to get accepted to their full-fledged program resulted in getting rejected. Of course, I applied again. We'll see what happens.
The Content Authority
To follow along with me, you have several options here. In this section, you can begin ghost writing if you haven't already. I have been ghost writing for years and I don't like it. The goal for me is to release my dependence on ghost writing.
However, some people like it. So feel free!
I have decided to use this site when I need more money. I set a goal to write $100 worth on the site, and I am almost there. I just need $11 more dollars. Then, I have another goal to complete ten articles The point is to create little goals like this to mimic writing articles for clients. I used to take on projects one at a time so to make things realistically, I come up with a small goal, reach it, then come up with another.
Demand Studios
I got accepted here a while back and I've been putting off writing for them. It looks like most of the assignments will pay around $15 each. This is higher than what I make at The Content Authority per article but I am not sure how it is going to go because most of the titles require a lot of research.
Since I am in the beginning stages I just made some edits to my bio and have reserved three titles to work on. It's just an experiment. Hopefully it won't be a headache. A lot of writers seem to like this site.
Writing Career Step Two - Hubpages and Squidoo
I have talked about my hubpages challenge. Well, I also have a similar one that i am going to do with Squidoo after I am finished with hubpages.
Basically, the goal with both is to make $2000 a month. I set my Hubs number at 10,000, only because I figure that is how many I will need in order to reach that goal. Truth is, I feel that if it takes me that many, I clearly don't know what I am doing.
The $$ goal and number of lenses is the same on Squidoo. Clearly, if I am making the money I want to be, I won't write any more hubs or lenses. Also, I will be doing this at the same time that I am working on step one.

Writing Career Step Three - Bum Marketing
If you don't know what Bum Marketing is, google it and you should be directed to Travis Sago's website. Sign up for the free course and get started. It's a specific way to do article marketing so that you can build up residual income.
Do you need help creating a plan for it? If so, google "30 day bum marketing challenge" or any combination of those keywords until you find a link to a free download. It's a free course put out by someone else that gives you a day by day, step by step plan.
That is basically what I am doing. And, I am completing this step at the same time as the other two.
